Novastar Genetics Health Status:

We use bio-security protocols developed by the veterinarians of the Ontario Swine Health Information Plan.  These protocols continue to be successful.  Under the guidance of Dr. Tim Blackwell, we continue to be one of the highest ranked herds in Ontario.  Our bio-security score is presently 100 out of 100.

Dr. Blackwell does physical inspections, blood-testing and nasal swabs quarterly as well as scoring our bio-security.

All of our purebred Duroc, Landrace and Yorkshire boars are registered with the Canadian Livestock Records Corporation in Ottawa. This is your assurance of lineage. We know the justifiable confidence your customers place in you to provide a consistent, proven product. The use of pedigreed, purebred boars gives you confidence to promote your product with ease. We are here to help you and your business.               

Our nucleus herd, where all boars are produced, is monitored under the Ontario Swine Herd Health Information Plan. This system, operated by the Government of Ontario, is  public and transparent. It includes frequent blood testing for all major diseases. These include PRRS. Our nucleus herd tests negative.
